Amazing little camera posted on 2009-01-03
Having bought this camera when it first came out I was absolutely amazed that it could go down to 10m without any additional housing. I bought it to go diving in Egypt with and worked a treat - the pictures were clear and brilliant and my diving instructor was amazed by the camera!
Just over a year later i took it diving to Greece and the screen kept on blacking out underwater, however i just took it back to jessops and they fixed it free of charge as i had bought the additional warranty with it - well worth the extra money!
Another problem is that it used to come up with a card error every now and then - it hasn't done it lately - however i have read other reviews of it doing the same thing.
All in all though, a revolutionary little camera!!

I work in the construction industry and bought this camera to use on site,which not only worked flawlessly considering all the dirt and dust, the pictures where great quality. I then took it on holiday to crete, where it managed to survive the beach,pool and waterpark. It was used by all in our group from kids to grown ups. However do yourself a favour and buy a 2gb memory card and use the video when in the water, outstanding.
 
small problems but great camera posted on 2008-09-22
I this bought because I was going to centerparks and wanted to be able to take pictures under water and not have to worry about my young son using it too. The Features take getting used to and I recommend going to the multible shots before trying to take anything underwater as its got quite a delay. My one annoyance with this camera is the video playback sound is to quiet to hear.I dont know if that has been the same for everyone but I use this camera everyday and have been using it for weddings ect, so I havent been able to send it back yet because they say it could take about a month if repaired and I cant just get a replacement although I am concerned how they might fix it as its ruggedness is down to no moving parts. I hope to send it back soon, but it might be a flaw in all of them in which case I'd be wasting my time lol.

I purchased this camera about a year ago and kind of delayed writing a review until it had been put through its paces.

Firstly the photos. Very good quality, the super macro tool with the little spot lamp is an absolute godsend for close up shots I do for work.

General photography is well on par with my previous Canon Ixus. They are sharp, clear and for a compact, have decent colour saturation. Used indoor, outdoor, underwater, on the beach, in the sea the camera has never let me down. The battery charge seems to last an age.

Last Easter I took the camera on a walking holiday in the Peak District. The weather was awful lots and lots of snow. One particular walk my niece asked if she could be in charge of the camera which I agreed to, after all she couldn't break it could she???

Twenty minutes into the walk we discovered my niece had lost the camera so we all set about retracing our steps to try to find it. After an hour searching I finally came across a little bit of the carry strap sticking out of the snow, when I pulled it out I discovered the camera had been sat in a tractor wheel rut, underwater, under the snow, covered in mud. I simply washed it in a nearby stream and it was ready to take pictures, much to the relief of my sweet niece.

Its been batted and bruised, its covered in scratches but it has never let me down.

If you want a hard wearing compact camera that takes decent photos then you can't go far wrong with this one.

Positives:
I love the fact that you can take this camera anywhere. Snowboarding, Beaching etc. I can happily give this camera to my 5 year old to take pics without being intensly worried he will break it. Its a great little family camera.

Negatives:
At least half my pics are blury, the clarity I'm used to on a sony cybershot, just does not happen, though the close up setting is great. Inside images are better than the old sony's, but not as good as the cannon.

The most annoying thing about this camara, that can make me CRAZY, is the 3+ second delay between pics. I like to shoot loads of pics, my child moves alot, and the moment is over by the time this camera is ready to shoot.

If you just want an easy to use family camera, that you don't want to worry about, its great, but if you are looking for brilliant quality and fast shooting look elsewhere.
